Planning for the Web3 Next-Generation Internet Service
Amid the development of Web3, the next-generation Internet, MODA is working to empower citizens with greater self-sovereign identity (SSI). We seek to utilize emerging technologies to support the functioning of democratic societies and strengthen global connections in digital democracy. Our approach is to develop a digital public infrastructure grounded in decentralized identity architecture and decentralized autonomous organizations. In parallel, we are actively working with global multi-stakeholder organizations to achieve goals such as digital democracy, Smart Taiwan initiatives, public code, and interoperable standards. Our objectives are detailed below:
1. Explore Taiwan's Development Roadmap of Web3
Guided by the principles of digital democracy, MODA works to establish for Taiwan's Web3 development by analyzing a pathway forward for Taiwan's Web3 as digital public goods, thereby implementing a Digital Civic Infrastructure. Moreover, MODA is expanding cooperation with forward-looking organizations around the world through participation in international activities, as well as researching, developing and realizing the various possibilities for applying diverse technologies in democratic societies.
2. Plan Applications of Decentralized Identity Architecture
To meet the requirements for next-generation digital services, MODA promotes the Taiwan Digital Identity Wallet (TW DIW) project, a digital public infrastructure initiative built with decentralized identifiers (DIDs) and verifiable credentials (VCs), in order to strengthen SSI. Aligned with international standards such as the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the TW DIW project fosters global interoperability of digital credentials while cultivating a Taiwan-owned ecosystem for verifiable credentials. By integrating open-source and interoperable technologies, MODA aims to set Taiwan’s digital democracy as an innovative example that aligns with international standards.
3. Involvement with Global Multi-stakeholder Organizations
MODA identifies multi-stakeholder organizations around the world and actively engages in advancing international standards. Through international cooperation, MODA improves the practical outcomes of digital citizens’ self-governance and digital diplomacy while reinforcing the digital progress of technical interoperability. Our international affairs include participation in the W3C, the FIDO Alliance, and global decentralized autonomous organizations.
